JAPANESE transportation company the NYK Group has announced the completion of its winter safety campaign, which was named "Sail on Safety" and ran from December 1 until January 31.
NYK said it carries out the campaign every year to prevent accidents on ships that are more likely to occur during adverse weather in winter when seas are more turbulent.
Some 200 NYK employees, including executives, visited 140 vessels to enhance communication between onboard crew and onshore staff by exchanging information about the current situation of the vessel and opinions on safe ship operations.
The NYK Group said it will continue to strengthen its activities to promote safety onboard its vessels by using these safety campaigns as an opportunity to reconfirm the principles of safe ship operations.
