HANJIN terminal operator, Hanjin Pacific, is taking over Maersk's APM Terminals' facilities at Piers 76 and 77 in the Port of Kaohsiung, the largest container facility in Taiwan.
No financial details of the arrangement were divulged.
Hanjin Pacific CEO GS Choi said in a statement that operations will double the handling capacity of existing Hanjin Pacific services when sole operations start May 7.
"We are excited about our new state-of-the-art terminal operations system that is being implemented by Cyberlogitec, driving new levels of efficiency in the physical operations on the terminal," he said.
Asia-Pacific APM Terminals CEO Martin Gaard Christiansen said the transfer is a good fit for the port.
Mr Christiansen said the downsizing, following the company's decision to not renew a further lease on a Kaohsiung terminal mid-2009, is a result of the "more proactive way we currently are looking at optimising our global terminal network."
