Technical snags, cold feet delay rescue from pirates

TECHNICAL snags and bureaucracy fouled a Royal Marine Special Boat Service rescue attempt of a Tunbridge Wells couple kidnapped from their yatch by pirates off the Seychelles.

Hostages since October 23, Paul and Rachel Chandler, in their 50s, have been taken hostage from their yacht Lynn Rival reported the UK's Press Association.

There was a rescue attempt last November when the Royal Naval Auxiliary supply ship Wave Knight was in range as the couple were taken abroad a captive containership, but British officials got cold feet fearing the attempt might risk the couple's lives.

Separately, a gun fight among successful pirates quarrelling over the US$5.5 to $7 million spoils in exchange for the release of the tanker Maran Centaurus resulted in dead and wounded among the sea robbers, reported All Headline News.
