DB Schenker signs US$350 million logistics deal with Gorgon

DB SCHENKER has secured a four-year contract to provide transport for the Gorgon Project, a major gas project in Australia worth a total investment volume of US$25 billion.

The agreement covers the provision of integrated logistical services by DB Schenker and has a total value of about A$500 million dollars (US$350 million).

According to estimates, the Gorgon field, which is located of the northwest coast of Western Australia, holds 40 trillion cubic metres of gas.

Initial work is to begin shortly for a gas liquefaction plant to be built on Barrow Island with the first gas to be produced in 2014.

DB Schenker will transport more than two million freight tons to module production plants in Asia and/or directly to Australia. "We are proud to participate in such a significant enterprise.
