FRENCH container line CMA CGM, rated the world's third after Maersk and MSC, has revealed it is considering diverting its fortnightly service to the Dominican Republic away from Haiti's earthquake-struck Port au Prince.
CMA CGM is thinking about having its transatlantic ECS service call at Rio Haina in the Dominican Republic, which shares the island of Hispaniola. It is also considering diverting ships to Cap Haitien on the Haitian north coast, reported American Shipper.
The company also noted in an internal memo that bookings to Port au Prince had been suspended, and that it had established a Haiti situation room at its Marseilles headquarters.
