Port passes

THE second phase of Shanghai's Yangshan Deep-Water Port, which was put into use in December, passed a quality assessment by the central government yesterday.

The second phase, linked to the eastern tip of phase one, has a coast line of 1,400 meters and four berths, each of which can accommodate 70,000-ton cargo ships. It has 12 unloaders, including 10 that can unload two containers simultaneously.
