US domestic shipping and logistics company, Horizon Lines, has teamed up with Ports America, to service cargo moving through the Port of Oakland between the US mainland, Hawaii, Guam and Micronesia.
The Ports America facility offers state-of-the-art technology and terminal services with efficient gate and vessel operations. Service enhancements at the new terminal include extended gate hours for early deliveries and lunchtime deliveries on Horizon Lines’ ship days with dedicated truck lanes.
All transactions will be processed via Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) for speed and accuracy, with shipment status updates available through Horizon Lines' online shipment management portal ‘NetCaptain’.
"Our new partner is dedicated to providing the highest quality service and we look forward to working with Ports America to achieve further productivity and schedule reliability enhancements for our business moving through the Port of Oakland," said John Keenan, president and COO of Horizon Lines.
Previously Horizon Lines utilised APM Terminals as stevedore and terminal operator at its former facility.
