KOREA's Hanjin Shipping and Dubai-based United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) have announced they will commence a West Africa Service from Valencia starting March 1.
Named WAF (West Africa Service), the rotation will be Valencia, Lagos, Cotonou, Tema and Abidjan and back to Valencia with two 1,700-TEU class ships one from Hanjin, the other from UASC.
A Hanjin statement said the WAF will not only enable the company to expand its presence in Africa, one of the world's fastest growing markets, but also to offer better service quality by extending the scope of operations.
Hanjin also said it was moving operations from Valencia to Algeciras in April in line with the opening the company's dedicated terminal, expected to become its logistics hub in the Med for West African ports.
"Meanwhile, Hanjin Shipping is continuing to seek opportunities to cooperate with partner carriers in service-launching and more in order to satisfy the various needs of its customers," said the carrier's statement.
