The ship flying the Panamanian flag with 83 sailors on board sank off the coast of Lebanon. The crew - citizens of Russia, Britain, Australia, Lebanon, Syria, Pakistan, Philippines and Uruguay. According to the Government of Lebanon, 20 people have been rescued, the rescue operation goes ahead.
Cargo ship Danny F II, transporting cattle, has sank about 20 km from Tripoli as a result of heavy seas. The ship was reportedly heading towards Syrian port of Tartus from Uruguay. Shortly after the storm began, the crew of filed a distress call, but due to rough weather, rescuers were unable to help in time.
Currently, Navy boats of Lebanon, divisions of the Lebanese Army and UN staff are participating in the rescue operation.
