Australia's Qantas Airways Limited is temporarily housing the last of the Royal Australian Air Force's Caribou transports at its Qantas Defence Services hangar at Canberra Airport.
Qantas said in a statement that it has donated the use of the hangar facility to the Australian War Memorial as it takes delivery of the aircraft from the Royal Australian Air Force.
Qantas regional general manager Australian Capital Territory Allan Williams said: "This magnificent warhorse of the Royal Australian Air Force will spend about six weeks here (until mid-January) in the Qantas hangar before being skilfully prepared by the Australian War Memorial's curators ready for its arrival into the Qantas Aircraft Collection at the Australian War Memorial."
He said the Caribou will become the 30th aircraft in the Qantas collection at the Australian War Memorial.
The Caribou will be the second complete aircraft in the museum used in active service in Vietnam, joining a Vietnam War Iroquois helicopter, alongside one of only two remaining World War II Lancaster Bombers.
Qantas said it has been a major sponsor of the Australian War Memorial since 2007, according to the Shipping Gazette.
