THE Rio Bravo, one of six newbuildings of a slot capacity of 5,900-TEU, has been christened at the Port of Antwerp following her delivery by Korea's Dawewoo Mangalia Heavy Industries (DHMI) and deployment on the Asia and South America east coast route.
The vessel has been phased into Hamburg Sud's Europe-South America Service with its first call at Antwerp for the christening. The Rio Madeira will be the final newbuilding of the series to join the service after delivery end of the month.
The Rio Bravo is named after the Rio Bravo del Norte, the Spanish name of the Rio Grande, which flows through the USA and Mexico.
