Major Chinese container ports volume up 10% in February

Total container throughput of major Chinese container ports increased 10 percent year on year in February to 8.4 million TEUs. After two months of 2008, throughput is up 15.1 percent to 18.77 million TEUs.

   The leading Chinese ports in terms of container volume in February were:

   1. Shanghai, 1.82 million TEUs.

   2. Shenzhen, 1.38 million TEUs.

   3. Guangzhou, 806,000 TEUs.

   4. Ningbo-Zhoushan, 778,000 TEUs.

   5. Qingdao, 773,000 TEUs.

   6. Tianjin, 550,000 TEUs.

   7. Xiamen, 303,000 TEUs.

   8. Dalian, 283,000 TEUs.

   9. Lianyungang, 180,000 TEUs.

   10. Yingkou, 140,000 TEUs.
