2009-08-28 00:00:00

Wilhelmsen Ships Service today announced that it has launched Fire, Rescue and Safety Services (FRS) at its service station in Moji in Japan’s Fukuoka Prefecture to meet its shipping principals’ needs for fire and rescue systems and services in southern Japan.
Wilhelmsen Ships Service’s Fire, Rescue and Safety services at Moji complements the group’s ship agency, logistics and offshore expertise and infrastructure to offer a convenient, seamless and comprehensive solution to all types of vessels calling at Kyushu island in southern Japan, which is home to car manufacturers, steel mills and major maintenance dockyards.

By carrying out installation and any other services at the Moji station, service technicians of vessels no longer need to travel to Kobe or Yokohama for FRS services, reducing travel costs, minimising disturbance to the crew during hectic port calls and harmonises the inspection dates. Vessels can get in and out of port rapidly, reducing costs and improving operational efficiency.

“With increased focus on safety and a need to reduce vessel operation costs, more and more ship operators are looking for a complete service provider who can take care of all safety-related systems and equipment on board, including administration and follow up. We have combined our ships agency with FRS services and systems at Moji to offer our customers service integration with a comprehensive portfolio to help improve their safety and security,” said Junichi Saito, general manager for Wilhelmsen Ships Service in Japan.
Wilhelmsen Ships Service’s FRS services offer clients the strictest quality standards certified to ISO 9001:2000 requirements, thus allowing shipping principals to save in the long run by using its quality and safety oriented service network. Only competent and qualified technicians and support personnel who have undergone regular training and certification at Wilhelmsen Ships Service's Service Academy work on vessels. This also ensures that new technology or designs, updated service procedures or techniques or the ever-changing development of international rules and regulations are adhered to.

Wilhelmsen Ships Service also works with strategic partners to offer a full range of approved fire and security solutions. These include trusted and well known fire protection, life-safety, personal protection, chemical protection, rescue equipment, oil spill equipment and medical systems and services.
