EBA planning to have cargo wagons examined for fractures

Germany's Federal Railway Authority (EBA) is planning to issue an order for the examination of the wheelset axles of all cargo wagons deployed on the German railway network. The planned examination of the wheelset axles for fractures is to ensure safety. It is a response to several accidents, including the one in Viareggio, Italy. The Federal Railway Authority is furthermore planning to set an interval for such wheelset axle examinations. The EBA, the association of private rail operators and Germany's Transport Ministry would all like to have a European solution, Logistics Finland reported.
