Germany's BLG cuts staff hours

2009-07-01 00:00:00

GERMANY’S BLG Logistics will reportedly make further cuts to staff hours at ro-ro terminals due to a drop in shipments.

The working time for 250 white-collar workers in Bremerhaven will be cut by 20%, a company spokesman told German news agency DPA.

Following the collapse of vehicle shipments by about 50% in 1Q09, about 600 workers were forced into shorter hours at the start of the month.

BLG still expects to post a positive bottom line this year. The group recorded €96.6M ($135.4M) in operating profits last year.
